This song was featured on the Youth in Revolt soundtrack which we watched last Friday night. It was a cute-at-times but really twisted indie with Michael Cera in it. I totally would have had a crush on him back in high school. No official video for this song and only a few fan versions exist online. None of which I deemed good enough to feature here.

As part of my effort to start posting more regularly, I'm going to begin turning out some weekly scheduled posts. Starting with my weekend soundtrack. New or old, terrible or great....I'm going to start sharing whatever I'm into at the moment. This is for fun and I'm not going to be taking it very seriously. So no shaming me for my love of infectious pop music. I can be indie too, but only when I feel like it.

I recently rediscovered the Kitsune Noir Mixcasts and they are now on my permanent work music rotation. LA-based creative Bobby Soloman jam packs his mixcasts with new music and lesser known tracks from your favorite indie artists and also pairs them with stunning visual art that makes your ipod look pretty while you listen.

Ok, Brandon HATES the name Simone. But I think it's the perfect name for my future daughter. Named after Nina Simone no less, do you know her? If not, you must educate yourself. Mood Indigo is one of my very favorite song of hers.

Anyways, this fabulous future daughter of mine would be a show stopper in this frock. It's outrageous (I know) but wouldn't it be lovely? The kind of thing a little girl would cherish and PERFECT for a holiday party.

Inspiration of the Day

I love finding new music and today's discovery happens to come via a really cool video. It's the Beangrowers "Not in a Million Lovers," one of my favorite coworkers tipped me off to them. I'm not sure what I like best, the track or the video. Either way, they are both great and I'm happy to have them on replay this afternoon. R.I.P. Muxtape

I was really sad to hear this morning that one of my new favorite sites, Muxtape has shut itself down due to an issue with the Recording Industry Association of America — the trade group that lobbies on behalf of the recording industry. and the force behind thousands of lawsuits against individuals for illegally uploading music. A post by the company stated that "The site is not closed indefinitely. Stay tuned."

I hope they do reopen the site again, I just finally joined last week and was working on my first motown-inspired playlist.
