Ace Hotel Palm Springs

Ace Hotel Palm Springs
Ace Hotel Palm Springs Fireplace

I've been dreaming of a quick getaway at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs since it opened over a year ago. Imagine my delight when I got my Jetsetter email today (have you heard of Jetsetter? it's a whole other post!) featuring rooms at the Ace Hotel on sale in two days! Help! I NEED this. I need to plan a trip pronto! I'm thinking for my August birthday, but worrying if the weather will be insufferable then...

Sessùn Spring Collection

Dying for it to be sunny springtime outside my door but while it's not, I'm content to lose myself in photos of French line Sessùn's Spring 2010 collection. I have only been able to find a few places to purchase Sessùn online so far: here, here and here. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to track down any of the new pieces I really want.

Guess I'll have to save for a trip to Paris to visit one of their three stores in person :)

Vintage(?) Hotness

This bed is rocking my world and I want it bad. Spotted on UrbanOutfitters, it was styled to sell the duvet cover that's just eh.... The bed though? Gimme.

This would also be perfect in a little girls room in a twin size - my brain is running wild with inspiration.

Thoughts for a good life

I'm not a Lululemon consumer, I don't think I've set foot in one of their stores. I came across their "manifesto" on another blog (I honestly can't remember which one or I'd link you). And I've been thinking about it ever since. I really agree with some of the points here and I'm trying to incorporate some of this into my own life. I bolded the ones here that I will be focusing on in the months to come. Enjoy.

- Drink FRESH water and as much water as you can. Water flushes unwanted toxins from your body and keeps your brain sharp.
- A daily hit of athletic-induced endorphins gives you the power to make better decisions, helps you be at peace with yourself, and offsets stress.
- Do one thing a day that scares you.
- Listen, listen, listen, and then ask strategic questions.
- Write down your short and long-term GOALS four times a year. Two personal, two business and two health goals for the next 1, 5 and 10 years. Goal setting triggers your subconscious computer.
- Life is full of setbacks. Success is determined by how you handle setbacks.

- Your outlook on life is a direct reflection of how much you like yourself. (agreed, but this one scares me a little)
- That which matters the most should never give way to that which matters the least.
- Stress is related to 99% of all illness.
- Jealousy works the opposite way you want it to.
- The world is changing at such a rapid rate that waiting to implement changes will leave you 2 steps behind. DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW!
- Friends are more important than money.
- Breathe deeply and appreciate the moment. Living in the moment could be the meaning of life.
- Take various vitamins. You never know what small mineral can eliminate the bottleneck to everlasting health.

- Don’t trust that an old age pension will be sufficient.
- Visualize your eventual demise. It can have an amazing effect on how you live for the moment.
- The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time. Choose a positive thought.
- Live near the ocean and inhale the pure salt air that flows over the water, Vancouver will do nicely. (side note: haha, yes!)
- Observe a plant before and after watering and relate these benefits to your body and brain.
- Practice yoga so you can remain active in physical sports as you age.
- Dance, sing, floss and travel.
- Children are the orgasm of life. Just like you did not know what an orgasm was before you had one, nature does not let you know how great children are until you have them.
- Successful people replace the words “wish”, “should” and “try” with “I will”.
- Creativity is maximized when you’re living in the moment.
- Nature wants us to be mediocre because we have a greater chance to survive and reproduce. Mediocre is as close to the bottom as it is to the top, and will give you a lousy life.
- lululemon athletica creates components for people to live longer, healthier and more fun lives. If we can produce products to keep people active and stress-free, we believe the world will become a much better place.
- Do not use cleaning chemicals on your kitchen counters. Someone will inevitably make a sandwich on your counter.
- SWEAT once a day to regenerate your skin.

Julie & Julia

I loved it. I laughed out loud. I almost cried. I caught myself drooling over the food endlessly. And if Le Creuset paid for product placement, they got their money's worth on me.

Added to my birthday list today. The beauty and perfection of their round french oven. So I can burn my own attempt at Julia's beef bourguignon!

I'm open to both flame (featured in the movie and below) and dijon. Because it looks so damn happy.

Wishful Thinking....

I saw this on green {goody} today and immediately had the "I Wants." Too bad I'm trying to be more fiscally responsible in 2009. In fact, one of my resolutions is to save $50 each month until I save up for the d-slr camera I REALLY want. I'm planning on making this one stick by placing actual money in a safe drawer. If it's out of the bank account, I'll be less likely to put it towards something else. But this toy would sure be fun too! I always wanted an original Polaroid but since that doesn't seem like an option nowadays, I'll take this instead. It's small enough to carry in my purse and super sleek. Gotta keep my eye on the real prize.

Dream Christmas Gives/Gets

An all-expense paid trip to Paris! I did it once but it wasn't right. This time, I would see the city in style, stop at tiny cafes and try the best of french cuisine.

JCrew Italian Leather Flat Boots
I've wanted these as long as I can remember. A solid pair of quality leather, flat riding boots.
