Diana Mini: First Roll

Back in August, I bought myself a birthday gift. My first lomography camera. Isn't she cute? I took her to Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Big Sur hoping to capture some great scenery on my first roll. Well, let's just say that I was happy with what I got but I didn't get much. Here are pretty much the only shots that turned out on my first roll. Hopefully, there will be many more to come and lots of improvement too.

Locals vs. Tourists Photography Maps

Locals and Tourists #3 (GTWA #4): San Francisco
Cool project put together by Eric Fischer of city maps dotted with photos geotagged by locals (shown in blue) and tourists (shown in red). Really interesting to see where the colors congregate. I think for the San Francisco map above his algorithm seems very accurate with most tourist photos centered around the Embarcadero, Golden Gate Bridge and Chinatown. Click through to his Flickr page to see many many more.

Speaking of missing Polaroid…

I found this currently free application (thanks to blog favorite and fellow San Franciscan sfgirlbybay) Poladroid that turns any photo into a digital Polaroid. It’s super fun and makes normal, everyday shots into retro chic works of art. It’s also a fun app to use since a little camera lives on your desktop, prints the photo and you can shake the print with your mouse to make it develop faster. Just like the real thing, it’s slightly agonizing waiting for the final product. But hey, anticipation is part of the fun!

There’s also a flickr group, which I promptly joined. And one of it's members is working on a Blurb book already!

Wishful Thinking....

I saw this on green {goody} today and immediately had the "I Wants." Too bad I'm trying to be more fiscally responsible in 2009. In fact, one of my resolutions is to save $50 each month until I save up for the d-slr camera I REALLY want. I'm planning on making this one stick by placing actual money in a safe drawer. If it's out of the bank account, I'll be less likely to put it towards something else. But this toy would sure be fun too! I always wanted an original Polaroid but since that doesn't seem like an option nowadays, I'll take this instead. It's small enough to carry in my purse and super sleek. Gotta keep my eye on the real prize.
